The ‘Golden State’ of California has long been amongst the most popular holiday destinations in North America for British travellers, and it’s easy to see why. With its long sandy beaches, warm, sunny climate, diverse scenic landscapes and welcoming seaside cities offering all manner of diversions, it really has all the ingredients that go into making that special dream holiday. And with the neon-lit exuberance of Las Vegas just over the state line in Nevada and the Grand Canyon, one of the great natural wonders of the world within easy reach in neighbouring Arizona, you certainly won’t be short of things to see and do. Titan’s brand new 16-day tour, Coast to Canyon Discovery, will take you to all the highlights which you may already know and love, along with some destinations which Titan will be visiting for the very first time, such as the lovely wine-producing heartland of the Napa Valley and the attractive state capital Sacramento.
Flying into Los Angeles, you’ll head up the coast to Santa Barbara for a visit to the historic Old Mission, established here in 1786. You’ll continue along the spectacular Big Sur coastline and enjoy an excursion to Hearst Castle, the ostentatious home built for the media magnate William Randolph Hearst. Today it is a museum, displaying Hearst’s vast collection of art and antiques and offering wonderful ocean views from its terraced gardens. You will also follow the famous 17 Mile Drive, said to be one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world and spend two nights in wonderful San Francisco. The world-famous Napa wine-lands are next on the itinerary, where you will step aboard the faithfully restored vintage carriages of the magical Napa Valley Wine Train to enjoy a delicious lunch while travelling past the vineyards of one of the world’s most prestigious wine-producing regions.
In the state capital, you’ll take a tour of the historic Old Sacramento district, with its variety of characterful 19th century buildings before exploring the wild natural beauty of Yosemite National Park. There will be two unforgettable nights in Las Vegas with its 24-hour entertainment before you continue your adventure in Arizona. Here, you’ll take a trip on the Grand Canyon Railway from the town of Williams to discover this extraordinary geological marvel carved out of the landscape by the Colorado River. The desert town of Sedona and the seaside resort of Long beach are also on the itinerary, while your journey comes to an end with a sightseeing tour of the ‘City of Angels’, Los Angeles.
As the Product Manager for the USA it is my job to come up with exciting new tours to offer the Titan traveller. It makes my job a lot easier if I have experienced the destination first hand so during my fabulous trip to California last year I visited some incredible new places that Titan do not currently feature and came up with the exciting new Coast to Canyon Discovery tour. This tour combines a mix of the classics like San Francisco, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon with some new destinations and attractions like the scenic Napa Valley, where you will journey back in time as you enjoy lunch and nostalgic train travel aboard the famous Wine Train, Sacramento with its Old Historical town which, whilst quite touristy, has a unique charm and exciting ambience and of course the exhilarating Grand Canyon railway, an unforgettable journey to one of the great wonders of the natural world. One of Titan’s true differences is that we include the drive along the Big Sur – around every bend there is another breathtaking vista and photo opportunity. This NEW tour really does offer some different experiences as it perfect for anyone who wants to see the very best of California, Nevada and Arizona including the coastline and the National Parks.
