Today’s story for our Celebrating 35 Years series comes from Brian and Valerie Bosley, who went on one of our signature tours, Southern Sights and Sounds, to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary in 2012.
Set in the glorious Deep South of the USA, Southern Sights and Sounds has become one of our most popular tours. Taking in some of the Deep South’s most iconic cities and landmarks, such as Nashville, Graceland and New Orleans, it is not difficult to see why so many of our customers have enjoyed this tour – here are some of its highlights:
Whether Country music is a big love of yours or not high on your radar, you would doubtlessly fall in love with the infectious spirit of Nashville. With music on every corner and in every cafe and bar – and a full sized replica of the Parthenon – there is a lot to love in ‘the Athens of the South’. For a real Nashville experience, the Grand Ol’ Opry, live every Saturday night, is a sight to behold. It is also America’s longest running radio show, not having missed a Saturday since 1925!
A popular stop, Lynchburg is a tiny county in Tennessee made famous because of its association with Jack Daniels. Interestingly though, you cannot buy any alcohol here – there have never been the required number of people living in the county to overturn prohibition!
The stop pictured in Brian and Valerie’s postcard, Graceland is one of this tour’s highlights. Elvis’ home has become somewhat of a Mecca for Rock ‘n’ Roll, and here we take full advantage of our time here. With a full tour of his home – including the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum – this is a day that you will not forget.
Our thanks go to Valerie and Brian for sharing their story with us today. What are your memories of trips to the Deep South?
