The renowned Rhine River has inspired generations of painters, composers and poets with its glorious landscapes. Its hilltop castles, steep vineyards and quaint villages leave a truly lasting impression. “The Romantic Rhine” – the river stretch between Bingen and Bonn was unsurprisingly declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2002, boasting over 40 castles and country villages. But for those seeking the river at its most romantic, look no further.
The Rhine in Flames is a magical kaleidoscope of colour, with fireworks lighting up the night sky and energizing the senses of those lucky enough to witness this spectacle. Taking place every year between May and September along the scenic stretches of Rüdesheim to Bonn, this captivating pyrotechnic display is a truly unforgettable experience.
To mark these celebrations, we are delighted to introduce two special no-fly river cruises allowing you to experience the thrilling pyrotechnic displays of the Rhine in Flames festival in either Rüdesheim or Koblenz. The procession begins in Rüdesheim, considered by many to be one of Germany’s prettiest towns. The celebrations here are enormously popular given the seven separate firework displays on offer. Koblenz on the other hand is, in the eyes of many, the most spectacular of all the nights in flames as it was here that the tradition started back in 1766.
Whichever you choose – be at the centre of the action amongst a fleet of illuminated riverboats as you glide beneath hypnotic patterns of colour in the night sky. This really is a unique spectacle not to be missed.
