    The beautiful town of Knysna is one of the stunning sights to be seen along the Garden Route in South Africa on Titan’s fantastic The Best of South Africa tour.

    Stretching along the southeastern coast of South Africa, the Garden Route is a verdant mix of forests and wetlands with stunningly scenic lakes and lagoons. The rich diversity of flora and fauna make a tour along the Garden Route an exhilarating experience as travellers marvel at the natural beauty of this Edenic region.

    Tsitsikamma National Park is one of the most popular highlights of the Garden Route. Its unspoiled rugged coastline, mighty Storms River, plunging waterfalls and forests filled with majestic Outeniqua Yellowwood trees make hikes along the magnificent Otter Trail an unforgettable experience. Be sure to visit Strandloper Cave and take the opportunity to snap some magical photographs from the suspension bridge.

    The beautiful natural harbour of Knysna never ceases to astonish visitors. Timber was exported from this picturesque port town from 1787 until the port closed in 1954. Today, it is the perfect place to savour some of the finest seafood in the numerous restaurants on the Knysna Quays. Titan travellers can also visit the fabulous Featherbed Nature Reserve and are treated to a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon by the Knysna Heads.

    George is a another charming town located on a 10 km plateau with the Outeniqua Mountains to the north and the Indian Ocean to the south. Travellers love wandering the tranquil streets of George, soaking up the sun and atmosphere, before paying a visit to the iconic Slave Tree, an ancient English Oak planted by Landdrost Van Kervel in the 19th century, which has a large lock and chain embedded in its trunk and has been declared a national monument.

    Famous for having the world’s largest ostrich population, which are bred in specialised farms, the town of Oudtshoorn and the surrounding area have an abundance of attractions to see. The Highgate Ostrich Show Farm gives a wonderful introduction to the fascinating birds, while the limestone formations of the Cango Caves are a thrilling spectacle to behold. Remember to pick up a bottle or two of the wine produced in the area, as it is among the finest in South Africa.
