    Best of Australia
Uluru Field of Light – 21 September 2016 and 15 March 2017 departures

In 2016, the spectacular Field of Light art installation created by British artist Bruce Munro will be on display in the place which inspired it – Uluru, in the ‘Red Centre’ of Australia. His largest installation to date, it will feature more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted-glass spheres, gently blooming as darkness falls over the desert. Entry to the solar-powered installation in included on the 21 September 2016 and 15 March 2017 departures of our Best of Australia tour, when you will enjoy an evening excursion to this remote area, with plenty of time to immerse yourself in Munro’s monumental experiential artwork.

You will see Uluru in the distance long before you arrive at the viewing area. Rising up from the central Australian desert it sits at 348 metres above the plain – higher than the Eiffel tower in Paris even – and it is truly a breath-taking and humbling sight to behold. Your visit will be at sunset, the most magical time to view Uluru where you can watch the colour change before your eyes as the light gradually fades from the sky. From beautiful burnt orange, striking red to delicate pink Uluru will be a stark contrast to the darkened outback and endless horizon surrounding it. If you choose to travel on our Best of Australia tour between the 21st September 2016 and the 15th March 2017 you will also have admission to the Field of Light included. From there you will be able wander through the 50,000 solar powered bulbs of lights, all individually planted across a vast expanse of the Australian desert while Uluru stands majestically in the background. This once in a lifetime experience promises to be spectacular and is only open for a limited time. If you are planning a trip to Australia in the near future and want to experience Uluru in a different way, I highly recommend you travel before March 2017 and lose yourself in this unique and spell-binding piece of art. Just don’t forget your camera!
