September Supper Club: Tarte Tatin

September has come around, once again. It is the month which heralds the changing of the seasons, the end of the summer and the start of the traditional harvesting season. It also sees Britain’s best-loved baking show continue to fill our TV screens with baking goodness – something which will no doubt be hotly debated every Wednesday morning in coffee shops and workplaces up and down the country.

There can, therefore, be no better way of celebrating September than combining some of the UK’s freshest ingredients in a Great British Bake Off themed edition of our Supper Club!

Brendan LynchWe are also very pleased to announce that we have teamed up with the wonderful Brendan Lynch to bring you a fantastic autumnal dish: the tarte tatin. A finalist in last year’s Great British Bake Off, Brendan’s blog – brendanbakes.co.uk – has let him continue sharing his enthusiasm for all things baked and we are grateful to him for letting us use his delicious looking recipe and mouthwatering photo!

This recipe gives us the best of two great countries: the fresh, crunchy, delicious apples from the UK, and a classic dessert from across the Channel in France. Both countries are a delight to visit in the early autumn, with a short stay in Cornwall or a river cruise on the Soane being the perfect antidote to any end of summer blues. Until it is time for your holiday to begin though, we strongly suggest that you get the flour, butter and weighing scales out to bake yourself a seasonal treat.

There’s really only one more thing to say:

On your marks.

Get set.

BAKE!
